Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max

About the Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max is the largest and longest-lasting phone in the iPhone 18 line. It pairs a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display (2868 x 1320) with the A20 Pro chip, a 48MP Fusion Main camera and an aluminum unibody with color-matched back glass. It is available in Silver, Glacier, Burgundy and Black, from 256GB up to 2TB, for Verizon or AT&T.

Below you will find what the main features mean in practice, who the Pro Max suits best, and the points worth checking before you order. All specifications come from the manufacturer details listed with this product.

Key features explained

The 6.9-inch display

This is the biggest screen in the range. It is an OLED panel with ProMotion up to 120Hz, so motion looks smooth and the refresh rate can drop when nothing is moving. Apple describes it as brighter with better antireflection. A larger display means more room for video, maps, documents and split-view multitasking, and it makes the keyboard easier to type on.

Battery built for long days

Apple lists up to 6 more hours of video playback than iPhone 17 Pro Max and up to 30 hours of use per charge, the higher of the two Pro figures. Wired fast charging reaches up to 50% in around 15 minutes with a compatible adapter and a 60W-capable USB-C cable. As with every phone, real results vary with signal strength, brightness and the apps you run.

A20 Pro with vapor chamber cooling

The A20 Pro chip includes a dual 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks that run on the device, and Apple states up to 40% better GPU performance than iPhone 17 Pro Max. A next-generation vapor chamber moves heat away from the chip so sustained work, such as gaming or exporting video, is less likely to be throttled by heat.

The camera system

The 48MP Fusion Main camera has a variable aperture for better low-light photos and video and more control over depth of field. The system also includes ultrawide and telephoto cameras with 8x optical-quality zoom. On the front, an 18MP Center Stage camera lets you reframe selfies and calls, and Dual Capture can record the front and rear cameras at once.

Durability

The phone has a Ceramic Shield back and a Ceramic Shield 2 front, listed as 3x more scratch resistant than iPhone 16 Pro. It is dust and water resistant to a depth of 19.685 feet. The aluminum unibody is colored to match the back glass.

Connectivity and eSIM

Wi-Fi 7, 5G and Bluetooth 6 are supported, and satellite messaging and Crash Detection are included. The phone uses an eSIM only and has no physical SIM tray, so you need a carrier that supports eSIM.

Who it is for

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is for people who want the most screen and the most battery. Heavy video watchers, travelers, creators who edit on the phone, and anyone who uses their phone as their main computer will notice the larger display and the longer listed battery life. It measures 6.43 x 3.07 x 0.34 inches and weighs 8.78 ounces, so it is a large, heavier phone.

If you would rather have a more compact phone with the same chip and camera system, the iPhone 18 Pro is the better choice.

Buying considerations

Pick your storage carefully because it cannot be expanded. If you shoot a lot of 4K video, 512GB or 1TB gives more headroom; 2TB is for professional workloads.

The variants are listed for Verizon or AT&T. Confirm your carrier, and remember that eSIM activation is required. A larger phone also benefits from a good case, and the 8.78-ounce weight is worth considering if you hold the phone with one hand for long periods.

Siri AI and some other Apple Intelligence features depend on language, region and software version, and some have daily limits. Apple’s notes are reproduced in the specifications below.
